wheels rubbing or the steering stops have shot perhaps or the steering limiters need a bit of grease on them

they are both different components which touch together when you turn the steering stop is the rubber item that is bolted to the control arm the limiter is the metal arm that is bolted to the hub carrier or it could be the other way round

Wouldn't it graunch on both locks if it was a failing CV joint?

eg. When going round a right hander the o/s has the tighter arc to follow and the n/s conversely has the lesser arc. thus differing steering angles are needed between sides. Ackerman angle facilitates this need. (Much more to it but this is the basics of how you get round corners and keep tyres relatively intact) All this may account for less stress and no graunching on o/s cv when turning left, as it is at the lesser angle. Could be any of the above. Eliminate the simple things 1st, check in the wheel arch for any rubbing from the tyres, and make sure the back plates are free from any loose rust and are not catching the discs. You can swap the lock limiters from one side to the other, this will possibly stop them rubbing, as it did for me. It will take you all of 5 mins to swap them over, including a cup of tea for a quick break. 👍
