What he said.

Easily the best tenner you can ever spend on any car, just don't get carried away!

If you can find a 940 with the winter or tow pack, it'll have a locking diff too. Nice

200bhp is fairly easy to achieve, more requires more in depth modifications.
Be warned though, boost is addictive. Then you get used to it, so you want more...
Hence, I now have a T5!

Worth making improvements to the brakes and suspension too if you're looking at making it go faster. Plenty of mods available to the brakes and depending how deep your pockets are some would almost make it stand on it's nose!
Suspension wise, polyurethane bushes make a world of difference to tired standard rubber items. Although tightening up the handling reduces comfort slightly. Worth it though imo.

For most load space you wil not beat a 240 estate. You will pay more for one but on the up side service parts are cheaper. The hardest thing is finding a good one and keeping on top of any body issues

For what you are wanting I would recomend either 940 with 2.3 turbo or 960/v90. The 3ltr might use a little more fuel but goes well is very smooth and a very refined car for the age. There are pros and cons between the two but both can be picked up cheaply

I am a little biased and if you want a classic it has to be a 200* or 700, I prefer the 700 series, (have 2) more refined, drives better.

If your budget dictates an older Volvo as an everyday car, then a 940 would be the car to go for - a Celebration, one of the last 940s, look for low ownership, and history; they're out there.

Default Found one,viewed one,bought one.

Ok search is over and this is what I got.
1997 940 B230FT
131,000 miles
2 previous owners(1st for 6 years,2nd for 12)
Full Service History(main dealer to 68,000 then regular garage)
Think these are options that were factory fitted.
Leather heated seats,drivers side electric
Electric Sunroof(doesn't leak yet!)
Tow bar and electrics(not sure if that was when first purchased or aftermarket, will post pic for advice).
Ariuga(?) alloys, recently refurbed or never kerbed anyway.
Auto
Brilliant Red(not in my opinion,Colour Code)
6 Disc Factory fitted disk in Boot
Spare alloy and toolkit complete

Sounds good car but MOT expired in March, will need exhaust gasket or maybe full system and that's rusty.
Recent pads.
So I'm going to the to my local garage in couple weeks for pre mot and see what it needs.
Will replace all tyres with all seasons as it's going to Scotland and France quite a bit.

I'm thinking of after MOT if it doesn't cost loads to do then full service, cam belt, and then maybe a few cosmetic changes.
I prepared to spend some money on it as I might as well keep it for a while.

Found a 240 that I may have too if funds allow.

Hanging out for a T5R, found one as well but definitely can't afford yet, mind you not checked Friday's lucky dip yet!

Will get pics up of the 2 Wentworths also if anyone interested.
The silver one is going up for sale, just spent Ł300 on full major service, cam belt, and anything that needed doing, not much btw just a couple of additional exhaust hangers to strengthen it up.
Had a look underneath car when on lift in Garage, not a spot of rust.
Was going to take it and sell it on Shertand where I'm working, get more money for it there as lack of choice for the locals.
Thinking of putting it up for Ł1200,is that over ambitious?

How do I post pics here the using my iPad,any links?
Thanks

The Peugeot 505 Estate and the Citroen XM estate are both bigger load areas - but both rust and lots of other bits fall off the Citroen too.

Default Slow

I do not agree that the 960 is faster - I'm sure my Sport Edition would p1ss all over my 960. I get about 20 mpg out of my 960, about 22 out of my 760T, about 25 out of my 940 Sport Editions and about 27 out of my B234F. My 760 B280E that a friend melted for me did about 17 and was the slowest of the lot my a WIDE margin. Before all of them my 245GLT (injection, not turbo) was probably as quick as the 760, probably did nearly 27 mpg and eventually ate its camshaft.

Boo! Hiss!

I love my B280E 760.

But yeah, I get about 4 miles per liter LOL.
That's mostly a result of my lead foot and love of how nice the motor sounds after 3000 RPM.
