Default I'll do it my way(not)

Ok little update.
Bought a car.
940 hpt auto
Got it for a song.
Bit I think it's screwed.
There is a really weird noise coming from engine.
It goes a little bit like this....
Remember when children could actually go out and play without constant supervision?
Well when I was growing up we used to put cards in our wheels and a peg on the fork leg and the sound made us think we were on motorbikes( ok I did grow up a stones throw from Brands Hatch).
My new Volvo sounds just like that.Yeah funny.
Not for me.
What is it peeps?
It's not the Turbo, that pulls like a train.
Exhaust is blowing, I know that much
any ideas?
Hoping it won't cost an arm and a leg, as I'm legless at the moment.
Any help,would be good.
Cheers.

It might be the exhaust manifold leaking on just one cylinder or a crack round the back of it where you can't see. A loose or missing spark plug would make a similar but louder noise but the car wouldn't be running properly.
Have a listen to where the noise id coming from (roughly) with the bonnet up and give us a few more clues.

I was more then a bit confused as you have stuck this in the wanted section, I've got some funny (or not) noises you can have if you want them !

Cool

Manifold to exhaust pipe gasket leak can make these odd ticking noises. Have a check with your hand after a cold start. Don't try this with a hot engine.....

Tappets out of spec on one cylinder?
Not a big job but quite technical.
My last engine ticked massively but I never fixed it, quite liked it really.
It died of a broken water hose underneath.
