Sorry to see you leave, but understand completely as my V50 D2 has never run right since day 1. The only reason I still have my car is I find the seat/driving position to be perfect for me, something I find sadly lacking in other cars I have tried.
However, I too am fed up of the slack in the drive train, and a very temperamental engine, and think it's time to change. Thinking of trying a V60 D4. Anyway, I hope you are happy with your Superb. Best wishes. |

High, Icnar!
Yes, we have suffered the same issues and bought our cars around the same time. My car apparently has a chassis number that tells Volvo is aware of the transmission issues, yet they refused to change it under warranty, deeming it acceptable. I, too, like the seat and seating position of the car, but the seats in the Superb are even better for me. In addition to be adjustable in every direction, you can also regulate the height of the lumbar support. And the seats are long, wide and supportive. More importantly, the Superb is fantastically roomy, making even the S80 feel cramped for space, especially in the rear. The Superb isn't perfect - no car is - but for my needs it is better; the S40 lack luggage space and rear passenger leg room. But the biggest issue was that I bought the worst engine (early D2) and worst transmission (early 6-speed). I would have been happier with my S40 if I had bought the 1.6D and its 5-speed transmission, no doubt. The car would still have been a bit too small, but at least the thing wouldn't annoy me every day going to and fro work. Hope you end up with a car you can enjoy, too! |
