Default Diagnostics?

Have you got the diagnostic box with a prod on the front suspension turret - or the not-really OBD2 socket in the cubby? Whichever, if you have a diagnostic box, pull the codes.

And you might as well do the radio suppression relay just to rule it out.

Some 25 and more years ago the main dealer was Forum, Pibright (now after several ownership changes, Squire Furneaux). Forum had a branch in Farnham. When they sold out Pirbright to Inchcape (Lancaster) the Farnham branch went Indy as PGI.

More useless info!

Has your car got the RPM sensor in the top of the bell housing? It can be hard to see. They are notorious for going faulty. The insulation in the signal cable breaks down with heat/age. You'd get fuel/spark as you craked the engine but when the ECU failed to sense the engine running it would cut the ignition.

Default The usual suspect parts in my experience.

1) Crankshaft Position Sensor (aka RPM sensor) (VO271949) (£32.80 ex VAT)
located on top of bell housing.
2) Radio Noise Suppression Relay (fitted to suppress radio interference caused
by the fuel injectors) Actually earths the injectors. (VO1323592) (£29.80 ex
VAT) located on front offside inner wing.
3) Ignition Amplifier. (Bosch 0227 100124) (VO3501921) Not sure of price.
Located on front nearside inner wing behind air filter box.
4) Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) (Bosch 02802 12016) (VO8251497) About
£250.00 if you shop around. Believed to be about £350.00 rrp)
My '92 940 2.0L non turbo has done 190,000 miles. I've replaced items 1, 2 & 4 since acquiring the car in April 2005 with 102,000 miles on the odometer.
My defective MAF showed up on a code read. I managed to find a replacement at a breaker but it didn't last long so I bought a new one.

The old fuel and fire approach usually works pretty well, so i guess you don't have one. How do you know you have fuel? Is it spurting out with a connector off, have you measured pressure?

The radio suppression relay provides power to the injectors, it should really be called injector relay. Its just up above the battery in mine but if you have 2 pumps you might not have one. Just bypass it to test or check for voltage at the injectors.

Sorry for the late reply. Been pratting around with the car for the last few days. I have spark and fuel. I've tested the fuel from the rail using the little valve on it. I replaced the crank sensor today and still no luck. The thing that's really confused me is I had a Fi control unit fault code and 121, which I believe is MAF. But they have both gone without a reset. Spent nearly £200 on parts to fix the car and it still isn't running

Default Radio suppression relay

In my 940 LPT the radio suppression relay is actually feeding the ignition coil instead of the injectors. According the wiring diagram this is also applicable to the 2 ltr engine models B200F and B200FT (don't know if you have this engine). The relay is used to power the coil directly from the battery instead of via the ignition key. This keeps the potentially "pulsating" current away as far as possible from the radio, to prevent interference. For testing you can safely bypass the relay, as long as you disconnect it afterwards to prevent the battery from draining.

The mystery deepens. Ive got spark and air. But no fuel appears to be reaching the rail. I've checked the pumps and fuel filter and they are fine. What else can cause no fuel? Its got plenty of fuel in the tank and will run on brake cleaner. Can't figure out why it's not got anything in the rail

Well that's the opposite to what you said earlier. You also said the pumps were priming, is that still the case?

Just keep undoing unions or checking power until you see fuel pumping out.
Could a pressure pump have failed?
