Wishbone and balljoints separation
How do you separate the wishbones from the bottom ball joints.
I guess how to pull wishbones down on a v70xc? I normally jam my breakers bar and push wishbone downwards but it's not working on this car!

What job are you doing?
Ball joint swap or wishbone swap?

I'd just remove the wishbone completely then you've got clear space to work around and refit the wishbone when you've done the ball joint.
Wishbone removal is a 5 minute job if that.

If you have split the shock and hub with the 2 big bolts, you dont need to pull the driveshaft out of the hub.
you can push or pull the bottm of the shock to get them apart, this will alloy u to lift the hub assy with shaft in situ up and the WB down and should be quite easy like that. You may need to drop the track rod end too, no drama. I do this, as my driveshaft splines are glued into the hub like yours. You wont separate this. Take the WB off as ChesireD5 suggests, you can fight with it in a garage of shed then A sharp chisel will get under the joint flange and tease it up and out. They are tight as pressed in. Grease the new one and the hole and offer new one. Put both retain bolts in and nip both evenly, then hammer with blunt chisel close to boot so dont break the flanlge, alterante bang either sside against a solid backstop - concrete floor! and then nip bolts to keep it square going in . Ideally a tube drift and big vice or press On dis assy you probably didnt record the camber position on the strut. You may notice the 2 holes in the hub are different sizes. The top hole is big and allows the shock base to be in or out ,,,, makes for the wheel camber adjust. Try and set it in the mid travel so fairly neutral set. All off now took off the two bolts onto the strut
Hub is in the shed. Left the wishbone on and bashed out the shaft. Old joint is out using a chisel now gona fit new one. Gave up as weather stopped play again! Got soaked yesterday renewing the rear brakes and shoes!
