Having now read the Lunar manual and consulted the circuit diagrams, it states that the battery is charged by a relay switched high amperage input and also a trickle charge of which I was unaware. Is the latter taken through the 15amp circuit? Normally, with a charged 'van battery there is no problem, but when the battery is low and the car is connected without the engine running an excessive high demand is placed on the 'trickle'. This blew the fuse and and the ATC then failed. When I reached home a little later and plugged in the mains lead, sufficient amperage was available to the battery which fed the ATC which activated by being earthed through the 13pin plug.
Luckily it is too dark and cold to investigate this evening. Tomorrow could be quite revealing! Now for a beer. |
