little update on this, its not so much linked to the steering, now more to going uphill. It goes all sluggish and gets a bass/drone tone, change to 2nd same problem, soon as its in 3rd it goes back to normal. I changed fuel filter, plugs

"It goes all sluggish and gets a bass/drone tone"
Could this due to it going onto 3 cylinders? Carefully check all of your plug leads, injector connections. If it's convenient to stop the car while it's doing this, pull the plugs and see if one of them is looking different to the others. New plugs won't make this so easy but if the new ones didn't change things you could put the old ones back experimentally. |

I did check those derek, it was running on all 4 with this problem anyway. All leads and plugs were new 6 months ago. Initially i thought it was on 3 cylinders too but that wouldnt explain why only right turns...

Have you checked air filter is clear and unobstructed I had a 200 Honda once that used to loose power at certain revs turned to be a tool roll under the seat being sucked into the air intake thus affecting half throttle type response.
worth a check maybe

nothing wrong with the air filter that i can see, the box is sparkly clean. Throttle cable is fine, pedals in car are fine, nice and tight. Fuel pump was replaced shortly after i got it.

...so it's had ht leads....have you changed the rotor arm and cap? The next thing on the list are the injector seals (although I'm not sure it will be them it's an easy job and worth doing) spray some wd40 or similar onto them each in turn and see if the revs pick up; you should also check the flame trap and the other 'air' tubes to see if any are blocked.... Then you will have checked or changed everything....

Well I talked to one of these today and he thought it would be one of two things 1) the green relay under the dash as it can seem to be working but can go intermittent 2) the fuel tank does not have baffles and the fuel pick up has an attachment that often falls off and muck from the bottom of the tank blocks it. Hope you get sorted......
