I know it's a bit extreme..and I don't know the laws about scrapping a car yourself in detail...but would you be able to rip the thing apart yourself, and take it away piece by piece in the back of another vehicle (estate or van ideally) to a recycling centre?

Might be talking crazy talk right here, but if I was absolutely desperate to get rid of one myself and had no other option, I would crack out the reciprocating saw and just go nuts.

Of course that may not be an option for you.

Hi mate, no I haven't thought about that but to be honest, whilst the body is spot on, the gearbox good etc the underneath is either seized or removed. Lights rad etc gone interior ransacked so its a scrapper or for panels only.
As for the suggestion of cutting it up, don't think I haven't thought about it but carting it bit by bit, 200 mile round trips is a bit extreme.
Had thought about just stripping the paint off it and letting it rust away. See photos of cars in the same locality

It might be worth checking if your local authority can help out, I seem to recall a scheme that was set up on the islands a while back , the problem of scrapping cars in remote areas was getting out of hand and there were loads of dead cars rusting away. They rounded them up and crushed them .

Thanks, I tried making contact with the dead about 3 or 4 weeks ago, the email I got back said that they'd respond in 10 days.
Not sure which calendar Highland Council use unfortunately......
