Hi guys
Would the spec below be ok to run VIDA 2014 with a DICE? I know people have recommended Dell Latitude D620 but I'd like something more compact and this is a 12 incher which will go into a little case with DICE and cables etc....... Any input you may have is gratefully received by a noob who got his 2010 C30 R-Design today ![]() ![]() Also any compact alternatives you may suggest?????? It should be ok as long as it has Windows XP Pro + service rack 2 installed.

Most 2014 versions wont support XP anymore so win 7 pro .. and you will need 4 mb RAM otherwise it could be very slow or/and not install ..

And from what I've seen, it must be the PRO version of windows - which isn't that cheap if you're buying outright.

If you buy a Windows 7/8 Pro upgrade or a full copy, yes, it will be expensive. But most business laptops come with it as standard, so you could buy a new laptop (Dell has Windows 7 Pro laptops from £409) or a second hand one, which as long as it includes the Windows 7 Pro COA, you can simply install (a second hand laptop would probably be cheaper than a full Windows 7 Pro license).

Thanks for the info/advice folks,
I think I'll go down the tried and trusted route of a Dell Latitude D620/D630, I've seen a few of these on the bay for less than 100 pounds and a few people have mentioned them as being quite suitable for running VIDA on; a small 10 or 12 incher would have been nice but the Dell is a safer bet, and I already have a spare Win 7 x64 Pro COA from a laptop I scrapped.... Hopefully my DICE will arrive soon and I can have a play! |
