Storing a V50
Does anyone have any advice on the best way to store a '55' V50 1.8S.
It will be garaged for 4 months over the Winter while I go travelling. What measures should I take to avoid any problems with the car when I get back. Thanks. |

Leave the handbrake off so that doesn't sieze up, and some fresh oil and petrol would't go a miss either im sure

idealy, a friend or neighbour could start the engine once a week, alternativly, disconnect the battery, make sure you have the relavent codes for your radio etc before doing so, and as the previous reply righly states, leave the handbrake off.

If possible put car on axle stands too. If tyres deflate, then they may deform, damaging side walls.

i would get a friend to turn the engine over for 30 mins every 2 weeks,or if they are insured drive it round for 30mins.this is because the brakes can corrode surprisingly quickly if not used, especially the brake callipers seizing.
theres an old saying, prevention is better tan cure. Its also a lot cheaper too!! |
