It's great that you have found a tidy one! The classic V70 is a great car - much as I love the toys in my new XC70, the two early V70s I had were both great to drive and could be mended by the owner with a bit of ingenuity. My current car doesn't even have a dipstick!

Which green is it? Tropic Green or the dark olive? Tropic green is my favourite colour for a Volvo estate.

sorry to hear the bad luck. I've come a cropper on ebay recently with some duff purchases and ebay / paypal couldn't really give a hoot. I know there are some genuine good buys and good sellers on there, but they seem to be fewer and far between than they used to be.

hope you get it sorted.

Glad it didn't put you off, my first 850 was bought with my heart and not my head and turned out to be a nightmare, didn't put me off another 850 (a very tatty stopgap) and then my present V70. It's not much consolation but everyone has perfect hindsight, if you'd bought the first one and it was OK we'd all be patting you on the back for a great purchase, no one would have thought to post to ask if you'd crawled underneath to test every component with a micrometer. Unfortunately it's been a bit of an expensive lesson for you (and a reminder to the rest of us) but even with my duff 850 I still think I'm not doing too bad moneywise by owning old Volvos.

I do know its 'dark' metallic green, perhaps olive? Beige / cloth interior which I actually quite like. Had enough of leather seats on previous cars, sweaty and what not.

Yep like you guys said, sometimes you just have to take a bad egg on the chin. No one (except someone who has a clue about cars and would have known not leaving a car to sit for 2 months before sending it on a 4hour drive) could have forseen the issue.

However, I'm over it haha.
If my first volvo (silver 97' 2.0 10v v70) wasnt such a solid, well built and reliable car I would have probably gone back to peugeot diesels.

Off to get a USB cable for my camera so I can upload some pics.

Expect a thread incoming ,

peace
