Default 3rd row seat not folding down

We've had a 60 plate XC90 from new, for the 4th time the rear rh seat won't lock into place when folding away.

The garage (Essex Ford in Billericay) is blinking useless, it's the wife who talks to them as I'm at work most of the time so I've no idea what the actual issue is. I'm sure it's something relatively simple as a DIY fix, anyone ever had this issue and dealt with it themselves?

You have to push the seat base cushion right to the back first, that then releases a catch so that you can lift the handle at the side of the seat, to fold the back down, hope that makes sense, perhaps the base cushion cable has come adrift?

John

The handle at the front side edge of the seat has to be pulled up BEFORE the seat base will slide back. As it hits the rearmost stops it releases the backrest catch so you can tip it forward.

The seats do not lock in the "folded" position btw, they merely lay flat uder their own weight.

If you can get the bases to slide back but not the back to release its worth lifting the battery cover/spare wheel cover where you can then see the bases in there home position and also the catches they are ment to release. There are little black plastic bits on the bases that are ment to actives the catches but they are know to come off. These can be done manually if needed.

Just tried as you suggested, and managed to break off the little black plastic catch Doooooh!
Managed to get to the mechanical release to let the back down.

All the knobs and catches seem to be in place, can't see any difference between the two sides, but one side just folds down as normal the other is locked solid.

I also seem to have knocked the rear parking beepers out somehow while investigating

The release mechanism is on the inside of the seat isn't it?
