I'm going to put Capt Jack on the spot. As I am doing some work on your ex car now my car can you let me know what you have had done so I literally don't invent the wheel? Particularly interested if you replaced fuel tank and installed electronic ignition (haven't checked the latter) and any other work. I have a rough idea from your archived posts. Happy to contact you by email if you pm me your email address. (I haven't got enough credits to pm you)

Monika!
Hi Jeff
Sorry I didn't pick this up before. Absolutely delighted that Monika is back in the UK after her Spanish adventures. Did you buy her from Tony, or has she had another another change of hands since then? I'd be very happy indeed to share Monika's history with you. I really didn't have to do much to her when I bought her in 2007. She'd be stood in a dry garage for 20 years and body-wise was in fine fettle. She wouldn't start and her brakes were seized, but otherwise she was pretty good. I stripped and cleaned all the brake calipers, and fitted new seals; replaced some brake pipes, most of the fuel lines, the fuel pump and filter and fitted a modern fuel pressure regulator. I also sourced a distributor for her, and made on good one out of the bits from two. I think I fitted a new coil, points, condensor and rotor too. Other than that it was mostly cleaning and fettling. I didn't want her lose her 'old car' feel, and so I simply kept her clean. Some of the electrical wiring had deteriorated I remember, so I re-did that in bits. She's a lovely old thing to drive, not really very practical, but a superb looker and everywhere we went she'd draw a crowd. It'd be great to see some recent pictures if you have any. Cheers Jack |

Monika-the green (well, blue green) goddess
I have emailed you directly with details but for the benefit(?) of the forum and to stir it up a bit I do use her daily to drive to work. Admittedly it's only 10 minutes each way but I believe in the adage " the best servicing for a car is to use it" I get 15-19 mpg and a lot of smiles from passers by and other drivers. I changed your distributor to a 123 electronic ignition and new coil and it starts first time rain or shine
I met a gentleman who was apprenticed to hills of woodford, a large Volvo dealer in Essex in the 70s. He said that the b20 loves being driven and not to be too delicate with it I'll post some photos when I get around to it |
