im a fairly new member although having owned volvos for a while, i also own a ford capri, and as doingitsideways said the ford forums can be just plain off putting and rude and i ended up getting screwed over big time.
this so far has been the most friendly and welcoming forum, im sorry people have peeved you off so much man. |

I was ridiculed repeatedly about my Capri, as it was respreyed Brooklands green before I bought it. Aparrently I was trying to make a Brooklands copy. It's my car, it was resprayed (badly, but not the point) by the previous owner, I like it, p1ss off, done!! I stopped using their forum and never looked back. VOC is great by comparison. Considering the volume of members that regularly contribute, I think we do quite well for not entertaining trolls, and the mods seem to stamp them out quite quickly Steve

They're not worth it!
Hi there, BoostBus
I don't know you and don't own a big Volvo, but from what I am reading on this thread, there is a lot of love out there for you and what you bring into this forum. Don't throw all those years of fun memories away for a few to55ers, which I agree with Sony Vaio, should be named, shamed and subsequently suspended from the forum, until they learn how to act like mature adults. These idiots really get my back up, sitting nay-saying behind a computer screen. Keep your best car and one that can provide you with a good supply of spares, clear out anything that you don't want/need and move on, happily, in your Volvo. As others have said, this is one of the most helpful and friendly car forums I have ever used. Toyota and Ford are pretty poor, whereas the Cinquecento club (not for me, for a car for my son!) was terrible. Never bought the Fiat either! I hope you see the light and stay with the forum and with the marque. I am not looking for any parts, or cars, but just wanted to enforce what all the other folks have already said. Hang in there and stay Volvo! Gary

Well guys, After a few days away of contemplation. A few days away to really weigh up my options and think about life. I've decided to say a big F you to the people who put me off what i love, which is volvos!. I'm not going to be pushed away from my favorite mode of transport and the first love of my life (after my wife and son that is!). I'm here to stay! I've started to sell off a few surplus items which I will continue to do so until I have a manageable collection and I'm happy. I've decided to Keep my White daily Auto as just that, a daily driver. I'm keeping my Bubble wrapped minter LPT for my son when he's old enough to drive. And I'm going to strip my red estate and keep and sell what I do and Do not need. As I've past experience with the red car and owned it twice, I've decided instead of just scrapping it I am going to cut the back half off and make it into a tow-able show trailer., Why? . Why not?! Means although the car has died it hasn't been fully wasted.
The haters can hate away and to all the good guys who've posted and the 20+ PMs of support I have shows me that I feel like a valued member of this community! That alone makes me want to stay with Volvo, and with this Forum! Thank you guys for making me see sense! And thank you for supporting another Volvo addict! I may even rescue a 740 Turbo Estate when i find one in need or a 940 Sport. Keep on Volvo'in everybody! Thanks again

That's the spirit Boostbus........ well done, I must say like so many guys who have posted on this thread I can only praise the people who I have come across and bought parts from.
I have noticed a common bond too between owners as most have more than one Volvo urrmmn me included. I'm still on for that pint if ever you fancy meeting half way between Evesham and you. Like so many have said kick the sad ones into touch they are not worth spoiling your life for. Andy |
