..... front passenger seat cover in Volvo 'black' trico cloth (circa 1990 - see pics). Must be in virtually mint condition ..... needed as reserve to replace driver's seat cover as I guess sourcing driver's one in such condition will be impossible. Not holding my breath! Cheers, Bob.

whilst I'm not as familiar with facelift* trim as I am with the original: you should not have too much trouble sourcing a cover in this fabric - go for a rear seat one and make a cover using the driver's seat as a pattern or alternatively get a passenger seat cover - as far as I do recall there were only two colourways in this tweedy fabric - yours and a blue version.
Your fabric isn't trico plush (a pinstripe), plush (plain colour) or cloth (which has a subtle diagonal pattern in the weave).* I'll keep a lookout if you wish. Jon. N.B words in italics are the actual names of the fabrics. *this trim also seen in very late original cars-especially the B200E fleet model (SE). Last edited by Prufrock; Apr 21st, 2014 at 10:18. |

Thanks Jon.
As far as I could tell per the 1990 model year brochure, where there are also a pictures of all the seat ranges, it looks identical to the one headed 'Trico Cloth' (page 40), and reference to the colourwise chart suggests it's also called 'black'. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the Pocket Data Booklet to decipher the codes as mine is for the 1991/7 model range, but that does mention a fabric for something. I seem to recall that it was the only 'standard' upholstery colour at the time for a GL in signal red with black interior trim. The main dealer called it 'grey cloth' on the purchase invoice when I bought the car and I always wondered why. Whatever, I be grateful if you will let me know in the unlikely event you come across a 'mint' passenger seat cover as that is the easiest option. If I was to get one made up from the back seats I reckon I would need the lot as from the looks of it differences in sizing and pattern match would possibly necessitate using bits from at least the single and the double seats - Bob. I think I have found one. Tommy, (mrmeringo on here) is breaking a 1990 model with the same upholstery ... most parts still available contact him!
![]() Thanks again for your input Jon. I forgot to add yesterday that the code is 5155, the nearest I have got it so far is that it is on the parts list, but it doesn't provide further detail ... just black. I could be wrong as I haven't really delved into it .. yet! - Bob. |
