Unhappy C70 -D5 2008 Power seat operation faulty

Just replaced my S60 D5 with a 2008 C70 D5 LUX with all the bells and whistles Everything worked well until about two weeks ago when I stared to experience problems with the power seats. They work but, not as they should. Button to move seats forward to allow access to rear don't work, unless the driver is sitting on the seat. The one on the passenger side moves the seat up and down rather than forwards/backwards. Seat position buttons don't work until the ignition switched on for approx 10 seconds then only with the door closed, and finally the memory buttons only appear to operate the door mirrors. The boot courtesy lights are so dim I didn't realize there were any! Related?

I have recently had a Witter tow bar fitted. Could the twin electrics fitted have anything to do with the problem? Any help to fix would be appreciated. Seeing a vehicle electrics specialist this week so if I am able to point him in the right direction??

IIRC, the rear access button does lower the seat first, if it's not already at the bottom of its travel, before moving it forwards. It also doesn't raise it back up until it's back at the original distance and the seat back is locked in place again. If the driver has to be in place for it to work, I wonder if you have a bad connection/sensor in the seat back locking mechanism?

Another thought, have you also had the pollen filter replaced recently? Wondering if the connections to the CEM under the glovebox might have been disturbed, which can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins.

Sounds like connection problems to me the module's are very temperamental try unplugging the seat and cleaning the connectors with contact cleaner spray and also worth doing the cem as well. Solved all my electrical problems. Also disconnecting the battery and leaving it for a bit can help as it let's the car reset. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I will try all of the above. haven't had a new pollen filter fitted but have realized the seat goes down to its original position first. (new to power seats!) but still wont move forward for rear access unless the ignition is on an driver is sitting in his/her seat.

Let you know how I get on.
