Default Radio problems

Hi all,

My 1991 240 has a few issues with the radio and sound system. It's the original radio and intermittently has somewhere between one and three speakers working. I have checked connections to the actual speakers themselves but has made no difference. Is this likely to be poor connection to the amplifier unit? If so, where is it? Does anyone have any other suggestions? Is there a way of changing the radio without damaging any panelling around it? Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.

Sorry just realised this is in the wrong place; don't know how to remove?!
