The only way to turn the alarm unit OFF is with a programmed remote OR to use the volo special tool . Then you can program new remotes . There are two types of remote which look the same but are different frequencies , depends on early or late . So when buying blind you have a 50-50 chance they are the right ones . your volvo dealer is the best bet as they have the details of your car . As yours is a 1997 i would say you need 9442981. they changed around 1995 . Guard Alarm II HANDSETS Earlier 9442983-4 later 9442981-8

Hi
Cant you just open the car using the key? Then when you open the door the alarm will not go off. If the alarm ever does go off, just put the key in the ignition and turn it on. You can easily replace the battery in the remote and see if that helps. Just pry the case apart and get a new battery from Maplin or a computer shop. Steve

However on a good note I've managed to jury rig the old fob into working for a short space of time (cleaned all contacts & yet another new set of batteries!)enough to disable the alarm, just got it on central locking with the keys. New fob on way thanks to RUFE. Hopefully sorted but thanks to all the helpful replies ...much appreciated! |
