This doesn't seem to have been covered in a idiot guides I've been following. So it looks like the wire from 'A9' in the original harness (which I didn't ever have) should be connected to something, but what? Is the 'remote lead/power aerial' connection suitable (200mA max)? |

Yes its the point marked A9, it is a low current feed, also supplies the amplifier in your roof aerial if you have a v40 and without you will have next to no radio reception, and for s40 it drives the telescopic aerial up. Not always red on aftermarket head units, sometimes yellow or poss blue.

Your guide is superb!
The only issue I had (other than realising that the reason the previous guy hadn't used the post ignition power was that it was fused, and he clearly thought it was easier to cludge the radio wiring than replace a fuse!) was the subwoofer switching. You do cover it, but I was too stupid to realise I needed to wire the thin red wire (as mentioned by you) to the head unit 'remote/power aerial' wire. I was working on your 'only three connections needed' statement, which would cover a car WITHOUT subwoofer. My sabotage of your thread is over, I promise! Again, I can't thank you enough! Adam

Further to updating the head units has anyone got any recommendations for replacement rear pillar speakers?
Apart from cutting the mettal away to accommodate bigger units, Ive not found anything to fit |

If you can't find similar units, I'd be tempted to cut away at the metal mate.

Good guide there mate, but for the sake of £7 from Halfrauds I just bought the convertor cable set.
Did you have to remove the plastic runners from the old stereo? My cage wouldn't fit in the gap!!

Just got a harness today so I can get a feed to the door speakers and back. Not sure if it needs low power inputs [RCA on my round din connector ] from the head unit or normal feeds |
