Oh, in manual trim I get around 28mpg mixed with around 150-200kg in the back ALL the time. Maybe dropping to around 25 with my foot down. I have turned my pump up a little though.

Haha, I know it could work out nice! But then again that is only a 4mpg gain... which ain't really paying for a conversion for a long time.

I think the auto is better mpg , for , when driving steady , it will change gear about 2500 - 3000 rpm , But" if it was manual , you would rev it out to 4000-5000 rpm ,drinking more fuel,
so I think I get about 30 -35 mpg with the auto .
and another plus side is the mix of fuel it runs on , I work it out at about £1 a litre.

Aye, to be fair "with my foot down" does equate to most of the time... It's when it's well and truely buried in the axminster that it gets worse!

Plus, mine is horrifically under geared as I still have the petrol diff in place.
If I looked hard enough and found one with a sensible gearing for the diesel then I'm sure I could persuade mine to do 35mpg.

Worth noting though: the same 960 when it had it's original 2.5 24v and a manual 'box was averaging around 18mpg with the same sort of payload and same "combined" mileage.

Steve

P.s, agree with Rod... It all depends on what mix you run to work out your economy cost wise.
My mix probably works out at around £1-£1.05 a litre, so that would equate to a few extra to the gallon

Nice and new MOT , is was mot'd to Jan 2014 , but because it was a mainland mot, it would not carry over , so she only has a years ticket on it , instead of 13 mouths .
But not to worry , straight through, No fault's , .

if you really wanted it you could fly over early and drive it back, long drive back it would take all day but could be done.

fitted a set of Nivomats & softer spring , at the weekend . That's the self leveling sorted.
The next step is to get the tow bar on. . Then she will be my work horse for the winter .

Indeed it could, and would be worth it if it was guaranteed of being the perfect car, but seems a long way for something that might disappoint, if that makes sense?...
