Default Cambelt change

I think that my 90 is due a cambelt change coming up to 83k and 07MY so I was looking for the genuine parts to get the job done at a good local indie. Having lots of experience with Audis previously I know that it was always recommended that you do auxilliary belt, idler and water pump in addition to the cambelt, tensioner, pulley etc. Is this the case for the Volvo too or are the water pumps more bulletproof?

Found a kit on ebay using genuine parts which seems a good price...

Thought it was only the petrol model where water pump change was recommended.

Thanks Clan I didn't think to look in other forums for the answer on the water pump.
Would you please confirm that only the following are recommened to be changed at the same time?

TIMING BELT, TENSIONER & IDLER

AUXILIARY BELT, COMBINED TENSIONER & IDLER

CRANK PULLEY NUT & BOLTS

Yes that is correct , the cambelt comes as a kit now with the tensioner and idler and reminder sticker .

Assuming you have the D5 yes crank pulley bolts and nut . You don't need to take the pulley off on the petrol version as the belt is narrower .

The crank pulley nut is 300 nm and you need the crank pulley lock tool to be able to counterhold the crank properly . 300 nm is pressing with all your body weight and a bit more on a lever 2 to 3 feet long ! a power gun will not do . The 4 small pulley bolts are stretch bolts and have their own angle tightening sequence .

Thanks, yep it's the D5 engine. Saw a good price on Ebay for a Volvo dealer in Nottinghamshire doing the belt change so this may be the best option rather than risking an indie.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Vo...item2c724d87a7

I don't suppose you know if the Volvo dealers change all of the above as part of the timing belt service or do you have to specify the extras you want done like the auxilliary belt, tensioner, stretch bolts and nut etc?
