Not sure if thats what they're called but im having to lift the boot of my V70 with a bit of force so I take it the lifters which raise it aren't working. What are they called and where can I get them from?
Thanks |

Usually called tailgate struts or gas struts, although as this is the world wide web is your location of Jacksville in the UK?, if it's US then the language may well be different. As for where to get them- Volvo dealer, Eurocarparts, ebay, friendly local scrapyard maybe even in the wanted section of the appropriate section of this forum.

As you're in Swansea it's definitely worth contacting Simon (Rufe) at FRF on Valley Way, if you look in the section 'Traders offers and discounts' (just below the 'General Volvo and Motoring Discussions') FRF are in the green threads at the top, check the first page and last page for how to get in touch and how to get a discount. The gas struts are hidden behind the trim above the side windows, it's not technically difficult to change them but getting the trim out of the way can be a pain as the fixings are concealed and can be a bit brittle with age. The struts I took out of my old 850 (same back door as the V70) are about 29cm long and 3cm fat with Volvo 3509482 6074 on them. A quick google found these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAPCO-Gas-...-/190963751953 which look right but I haven't double checked.
