Default Looking for V50 T5 in Southwest

Just as the title says...

I have recently been making enquiries on here about the possibility of buying a V50 2.4i and the groundswell of opinion seems to be not to bother with that engine as the T5 offers similar fuel economy for far more fun. So I am now looking to buy a V50 T5, my MAX budget being £6000, more reasonable £5000-5500. Has to be manual transmission, obviously lower mileage, FSH preferred and all that but will consider all options.

I am currently living in Devon so would prefer to see cars within a couple of hours drive from there. I am aware that I may need to travel to get what I am looking for however. I will not be in a position to buy until early November so please do bear that in mind.

Hoping to hear from people.

Patience is a virtue as they say, I'm sure the right one will be along at the right time. Will keep my eyes peeled for you and as you're going for a an engine that is not so desirable to most these days (due to size (2.5)) then I'm sure you'll get a good one.

Just don't be too eager though, you need to make sure you do all the checks so you don't end up with a Lemon!

All the best,

Aye, won't have the cash for a while yet anyways so have the time to watch for a decent car. What are the common things that you can check on these while doing a quick once over and test drive?
