Default 960 oil light !

Hello everyone, I have a 3ltr 960 estate. Recently changed the oil, some 250 miles later, oil light came on with rather loud ratteling noise from tappets. Stoped immediatley. Eventually flushed system through twice, fitting new VOLVO oil filter and proper oil. Oil light now remains on for 2-3 miles, then goes out. No noise from engine during this time and oil pressure is getting to tappets. anybody got any ideas? Or should I trade it in for a newer version before its too late?

Check your oil pump (if you can get to it, if someone has mixed the oil in the car, synthetic to non or vice versa, you can clog the oil pump filter, causing a loss of pressure. As you say you have recently done an oil change this could be it. GET THIS FIXED! Driving for that distance without oil pressure IS killing your engine. If the light is on you should stop as it doesn't take many miles before your engine is shot.

Anyone else got any ideas?
