Cat & lambda sensor for '92 240 SE
A request for anybody who may be scrapping a car, or may happen to have one or both of these around (I took them off some years ago, and now need them for the mot; it's a B200F but I believe it's the same on a B230F). They tend to be removed by breakers immediately so I've missed out on a few. Can collect (south & east London or in Kent).
Thanks.

Are you sure you need them for an MOT? Is the testing station applying the rules correctly?

Yes Stephen - my tester showed me that last year the rules changed, and that if a car had a cat fitted at new it now has to have it in order to pass the Test. (I would wish that it was other - but was shown the new instructions, so have to accept them).
Thanks for your interest - Dan C.

Unless you are on a open loop LPG system you will need the lambda sensor for the engine to run correctly.
There is another way of removing the need for the cat for the MOT. If the engine is older and was not fitted with a cat it is not needed on your cat equipped car. The engine type is on the cam belt cover, you could just swap the cover for a B200E one and that would actually cover you MOT wise! Edit: Best to buy the lambda sensor new complete with wiring harness, there are around £50 for the correct one. Last edited by classicswede; Sep 10th, 2013 at 10:42. Reason: new lambda info |

Many thanks to Chesh740R for meeting me at Sevenoaks with the cat / lambda - and the advice!
