164 Locks ( Lost Keys ) 1970
Hi
I was wondering if you could help me ?? We have a customer who has misplaced the keys for their 1970 Volvo 164. Is it possible to match up a key to the locks or could somebody supply replacement locks for it ?? I have images of the ignition barrel which has a sticker which might be a key number on it ( don't think we would be that lucky ) I could email them to somebody which might be of some help Thank you |

Worth trying Volvo customer services in Sweden. I lost the keys to my 1969 164 in the late 80s and they supplied a new set in 48 hours, free of charge. Interesting to see if the service is still as good now!

164 keys
I have a 1970 164 (amongst others) for breaking, but the boot lock already sold (with spare key). Did you only need the ignition lock or the doors as well, as I believe unlike 240s all 164s had different keys for doors and ignition.
If interested and you get no luck from Ulla let me know on audakt@tesco.net as I see you are a new member. I might have a 164 ignition lock plus key in my store too, so will look when next there. However, to remove them one has to drill out the break-head fixing bolts, so new fixings will be necessary: I used Allen screws when I replaced the lock on one of my other cars. Paul |

Hammer
It's often possible to remove the shear bolts that hold the ignition switch and lock using a dot punch and a small hammer. I've had several that shook themselves loose over time and had to replace them with Allen bolts anyway. I've got a spare ignition lock kicking about somewhere too. Might even have a set of door and bootlocks,
