I agree with having a laugh, and taking the 'mick' .Its what I am like, sarccy - a bit like Basil Fawlty (love him..!!!) However I have been 'brought to task' by certain members that feel its ok for them to have a laugh at others expense yet not to be on the receiving end of what is quite clearly humour, when set forth by me or others

Double standards.

I remember Mike back in 1997 my first Volvo 740 the headlights not very bright.

I went to Halfords and it was the early era of braces on youngsters every where you went you saw these braces on kids teeth.

I was looking at the newer headlamp bulbs that were 10% brighter it said on the box 10% more, then this young overflowing girl with braces came up to me and said can i help you......so i did not want to hurt her feelings so i said what is the difference between this bulb and this newer bulb .......she took the box of me and said this one is 10% dearer than that one.

I just had to head straight to the outside door without saying a word.

I never did go back to buy them.

I accidentally missed a payment on a credit card a few years ago and a young man phoned me up to ask if i could make the payment to bring the account up to date but i was at work at the time and didn't have my wallet on me so i asked if he could ring back later when it was more convenient and he said

"I'm not sure if you are aware of this Mr Booth but if you dont keep your account up to date it will go on your credit file as a black mark and you wont be able to get any credit"

"Its ok i dont want any credit thanks"

"What do you mean you dont want any credit?

"I dont want or need any credit thanks"

"But you do realise you wont be able to get a blockbuster video card"

"Are you serious?"

"Yes thats right Mr Booth, no blockbuster video card with bad credit"

"I dont watch video's"

"Isn't that what everyone does Mr Booth"

at which point i had to hang the phone up as i couldn't continue the conversation due to laughing

Me (acting very dumb throughout): Can one of you have a look at why a light is on on my dashboard.

Opo: Sure, which car?

Me: The V70 over there.

Opo: Oh it's a red light that's not good, do you know what it is for?

Me: No idea but the car runs fine.

Opo: Do you have the handbook for the car?

Me: Sure it's in the glovebox why?

Opo: It might tell us what the light is for.

Me: Oh I never thought of that.

Opo: few minutes with the book, it's a low coolant alarm, we sell coolant so we can fix this can you open the bonnet.

Me: Sure.

Opo: Strange the tank looks to be full, let me go and get someone else to take another look.

Opo_2: These cars have a float that trips a switch it looks like the float has sunk.

Me: How can a float sink, they are designed to float? (still acting dumb but finding hard to keep a straight face).

Opo_2: Well if the bubble of air escapes the float will sink and put the light on.

Me
: As you sell car parts can you sell me a new bubble for the float?

Opo_2: We don't sell bubbles.

Opo_1: I will go and ask the manager if he has any in the back room.

I got in the car and drove off at this point as it was too difficult to keep a straight face.

On a serious note though best part of £50 to fix the bubble, new coolant expansion bottle and cap, at least the damn light has gone out - Mike

Anybody that buys anything from Halfords is having the "Micky" taken out of them. Halfords will be having the last laugh.
Have always done all my own servicing and repairs and never needed to set foot in there yet!.
