Aftermarket Sub
Afternoon,
I've been trying to find out if it's possible to fit an aftermarket sub and amp to an S40 phase 2 but I'm not having much luck. My car appears not to have the factory amp in the boot (if that has any bearing). The main hold up for me is that I have no idea how an aftermarket setup would interface with the audio cabling in the S40 as I believe it's all fibre based. Can anyone shed any light or point me in the right direction of an existing article please? Thanks |

Thanks for the reply. The link would be really helpful.
I have found two articles now but both reference having an existing Volvo amp, which I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have. |

I want to do this myself, as I have the High Performance sound with amp in the boot. I've seen a few threads on here but they're way over my head unfortunately :S

Hi Danny,
Your setup makes life a bit easier as you can tap into the existing speaker outputs that are in the boot already. In my case I don't have the premium sound system with amp so my speaker outputs are in the front nearside footwell. It's quite tight up front and more of a ball ache than I imagined. I'm going to get a quote from a fitter now and if it's not too bad I'll them someone else do it. Definitely not as straight forward compared to older cars. Here is a guide to get things installed in your car: http://www.volvo-forums.com/t38552-h...tor-in-s40.htm |
