Help with expansion tank
Hey all, just a quick one, I ordered an expansion tank from eBay, a new patterned part for my 97 S70 T5, the one I received looks smaller than the one that's currently fitted so I believe it's the post 99 tank I've received? Would it be ok to still fit this as mine has a terrible leak? It's not as easy as sending it back to get a replacement as I'm in NZ and had the part posted from the UK. Just wanted to see if the other would still work before going through the hassle of returning it.
Thanks

I'd imagine the main questions would be whether the connections to the tank are the same e.g. the pipes and coolant sensor. The other issue would be mounting it within the car and whether the pipes would reach far enough. If I recall correctly on the 850 (same tank) its mounted on the suspension turret so the pipe to the radiator would have to reach a bit further?
Earlier tank: http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/...oducts_id=5301 Later tank: http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/...oducts_id=5533 Otherwise if the pipes fit to it, the sensor fits underneath and you can mount it somewhere then I can't see why it wouldn't work* (although the later tanks are presumably a lower capacity, I'm sure it would be fine though) * Probably easier said that done! Overall it would be better to have the correct part though really. No doubt more awkward in NZ though I assume the main reason they changed them was to put the power steering resevoir next to it to save space at the front of the engine (resulting in ballooning power steering resevoirs...).

99 models have the tank for the power steering attached to the water tank. This is why the tank is smaller. Also I think the sensor will not fit due to different connector, at least the 850 connector is differnt, not sure about SV70 MY98

Thanks for your replies, I'm going to have a go at fitting it and jut hoping the connections are the same, and il try to find a way of mounting it. If not I will have to bite the bullet and order another from the UK, Thanks again!
