Hi,

Can anyone tell me what this metal rope is for and is it important?? It has become detached from it's anchor

(1998 V70 2.4 10v petrol/LPG)

its an earth strap you should have one either side the engine

its to earth the engine to the body so i would say yes but as you should have 2 so as long as the other one is there you will be fine if not its not going to be detrimental

not important , it is just for radio interference supression .

The other end is attached near the bulkhead, on the 'chassis rail'.
