Default V70 Access problem

I am the owner of a V70 estate (1999). I have a problem. I have just returned from working overseas. In my absence the car was parked on the drive for some months. On my return I could not gain access to the car. The key would turn in the lock but the door would not open.

I am presuming that the battery is down and the central locking mechanism down also. As I cannot gain access to the hood to change the battery, my questions are as follows:

1. How can I gain access to the hood to change the battery? Failing that.
2. How can I open the door manually?

i think if you go under the car and charge the battery via the the = of the starter and a good earth i think it will charge.
dont quote me on but iam sure thats how its done.

i have an idea....
multiplug like on front of aa vans wired into the battery and hidden out of the way os if this happens only you know how to get to it under the car. job done
cef have male and female plug for about 15 quid.
think its a job for the just incase list.

Do you have a lock on the tailgate? I had an 850 which used to play up so several times I had to open the boot and crawl through, the tailgate lock seemed to work even when the drivers door didn't.

I believe you can also charge the battery enough through a 12V towing socket, if you have one?

You'll need the earth and permanent live to feed into though.
