The search button is your friend! THere have been a number of similar threads recently - do a search and have a look at them. You'll probably find all people have to say on the subject there.

The Search button is indeed my friend.
Ok, after a quick serch of the forums, I've just read some disturbing things: Such as the Turbo only lasting for 100k ??? Am I reading that wrongly? http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...t=Buying+a+C70 |

The length of life of a turbo is directly related to how it has been treated. A hard worked turbo that is never allowed to warm up / cool down properly may last 70k or less, a well looked after turbo can easily last into the 200k + mark on these engines (which are the same as on the S70). What model of C70 are you after, the T5?

Hi there,
Yup - I'm looking at the T5 with just over 70,000 miles on the clock. I was under the impression that as long as the turbo had a constant supply of oil (and assuming misuse & abuse was not present), the turbo would live for many, many miles. I was really suprised to read that life expectancy can be as low as only 100K miles. It almost sounded like a common problem with the C70. Is this the case? |

Provided the turbo is given time to spin down after a run and not pushed when cold 200k shouldn't be unachievable. The "average" life of the Mitsi turbo on the T5 engine seems to be circa 150k, though.

Take it for a blast, use plenty of the power. Get it back to its home and let it idle for about 5-10 mins. If it smokes, then its likely the turbo/turbo seals are on their way out.
