RobMac,
Good price! I ended up paying £136 per tyre a couple of months ago for the Nokian Z SUVs on 18" wheels. Are yours 17" or 18"?

Default Different front and rears

My local tyre depot said that I can have different makes of tyre front and rear so long as they are the same per axle. This seems to be a different view from the ones I read on here so who is right please as it concerns me that the depot manager might be giving me a bum steer (pun intended) ?

Thanks

Nick

I know this thread has been done to death but...

I went to buy 2 new Grabber UHP's this wknd, but they are going out of manufacture and General have replaced them with Grabber GT - a very different tread pattern.

So, I bought two for the front (still got UHP on rears) and I can definitley say I have noticed a marked difference - improved steering/cornering response, to the point where I started taking corners faster and tighter than my usual sedate driving style. They really do seem to bring the car to life.

Not sure anout the impact on MPG as I became a bit heavier footed.

That's some very useful info thanks, and at first I thought oh no , just when I am happy with my tyre choice, now things change ! But Looking at these on the european General Site I am impressed.. granted they are not as "nice looking" as the UHP but if they are more safe then that is the important factor and hopefully at a similar cost point.

I would be interested to know how they perform in Snow as the UHPs did well in the limited snow we get down south. The spec mentions SIPEs specifically which the UHP specs never did but the tyre comes under their "smooth" category and there is a specific "Snow Grabber". I cannot see from the limited pictures if these have M + S on them which the UHPs currently have. The specs also show that they have a higher speed rating (W). Below link has all the details.

We'll have to wait until 2014 for the next snow event.

I will be pulling a heavy van across grass with it though, and that is the main reason why we bought the XC90 as the previous fwd people carrier was hopeless on wet grass.

I came in here to ask about the Grabber GT and you have already answered my question! I couldnt find the UHP anywhere so ended up settling for the GT, and they do feel fantastic on the car!

Many thanks. They do seem reasonable price wise.
What kind of mileage have you got out of them?

Hello am1, at the moment I've still got my winters on (Nokian WR G2 SUV,) but when I swapped them over I had done 7200 miles for 1mm of wear so looking very good, I'll be puting them back on at the end of this month.

Hope it helps
