So on a slightly more serious note, I think that diesel cars made more sense a few years back, when they were direct injection and erm, well simple really.
But what appears to have happened in recent years, is that in order to remain within all of these twenty first century emissions regulations, diesels have become hugely complicated things. More complicated in some instances, than their petrol equivalents and to me, unless you actually require huge lumps of torque to haul heavy stuff around, a diesel has lost its appeal.

Couldn't agree more. But, despite being a big petrolhead, both our cars are diesels (the 780 excluded!) and we have just ordered a new V40 D4 for the wife. Why diesel? Only due to our company having a great diesel contract with Aral (BP) where we get a discount when filling up. Mind, not a big discount, but still something
