Default Car Speakers making deafening noise and burning smell

Hi
MY car V70 D5 2003 speakers make deafening noise when car turned on. there is also some burning smell. Can't stop speaker noise. Noise still even if the radio is turned off! However car seems to run normally - though noise much too loud to allow car to be driven.
Does anyone have any ideas? or suggestion for something to check.
Any help much appreciated . Thanks M

Take HU off and check if it not short cirquit something. And then check all the speakers if they not shorting either. From where the smells come from?Front? HU or speakers themselves?

Perhaps heater matrix has split and damaged the stereo with water/coolant?

Not sure on where the matrix is relative to the stereo on these cars though!

Sounds like warninglights reply is most likely...check the passenger side carpet for moisture and check your coolant levels. If the heater matrix has gone then youll have lost coolant behind the dash depending on what you had in the coolant, it would usually be a sweet smell.
