XC60 Boot latch - closing problem
Hi,
I have the reversible mat in the boot and sometimes it creeps forward and gets in the way of the boot latch mechanism (a better design would be to have a cut out bit around the lock .. but there you go!) Anyway ... so I tried to shut the boot and it bounced on the carpet and then I couldn't shut it (after moving the carpet of course). Tried pulling / pushing on the spring catch in the tailgate, but to no avail. Tried slamming it a few times and finally it shut. However, worried about the force I had to use ... is there a simple way to "unclasp" the latch when it gets in this dilemma. Hope that makes sense. Thanks

I don't know about 'unclasping' anything, but I just thought I'd let you know I feel your pain!!
I too have an XC60 with the boot protector....and I wish it had been designed with a cutout around the lock....and it keeps sliding over the lock....so my boot lid bounces every time I try to shut it!!! AAARRRGGGHHHH. So i use a piece of pipe lagging about 6" long which i keep just under the lip of the protector by the lock. It works 90% of the time, blows out of the car 8% of the time and the other 2% is spent slamming and slamming and slamming..... |
