Yes, normally I leave enough space. In this case the road i was on was barely wide enough for two cars, being rural and a popular link road between Bath city and the route to the M4, and the turning circle of some 34+ feet would have required a ten point turn.

The last few cars tend to bunch together because the slope down onto the main road acts as a push to get across a wide road which has cars passing the exit at the junction at 60mph in both directions and a nearby junction on the opposite side of the A420 also feeds cars into the mix. Drivers try to get the best start possible across the road.

Yep. No point being assaulted for £200. Violence does appear to be the first response from some people.

Reminds me off a guy I knew from my biking days. Apparently he had a prison "tat" on 1 hand, it's meaning apparently that he had taken on the hardest guy in the prison and won. Supposedly that now meant that he was the target for all the newcomers wanting to prove themselves but thats beside the point. The point is that no matter how big and how bad you are, there is always someone bigger and badder.

I've been recently working my days off to cover a colleague who got into a fight in the pub. It's cost him at least 5 days pay so far, possibly even 7. Was it worth it?????

After several instances of people deciding they can squeeze through (I always prefer to wait, or check my speed early to avoid coming close to someone in pinch points) I have dreamed about modifying the off side mirror with angle iron or something else brutal.
Obviously a very dangerous mod that I wouldn't really do but it would be worth it when Speedy mcSqueezethrough gets his mirror shattered and not leaving a scratch on mine.

Nice idea though.

Car mirror is now as good as new... required about two hours of the Volvo tech's time as well.

I wondered if something along the lines you proposed would work ~ fill the mirror housing with cement while leaving a void for the motor movement... perhaps.
