Question V70 rear wiper problems - where is FL2?

Hi,

My rear wiper has stopped working on my V70 - both settings. The rear water jet does still work. Looking at the Haynes manual for a Typical rear/wash/wipe (diagram attached), I have checked out Fuse 10, 15A, in the Engine fusebox and Fuse 12, 15A, in the Luggage compartment. Both fine. However, the diagram also shows FL2 (Fusible Link?) in the "Battery Fusebox" I can find no reference to a "Battery fusebox", nor can I find a fusebox anywhere near the battery! It does look like FL2 could cause this problem i.e. it would cut off the + supply from the battery to both the Rear Intermittent and Rear wiper relays, but not cut off the supply to the Water jet.

Any ideas where it is?

Thx

Paul

Don't know where fl2 is - will have a poke around in a bit. Are you aware that these wipers have a habit of seizing up? The spindle corrodes and is fairly easy to sort by dismantling and clean/grease. There is a thermal overload that you might be able to hear clicking back there.

I'll check my handbook tomorrow as it does have a full list of fuses in the OE handbook.

Also, there is a fusebox under the driver's kick-panel thing (above your knees)...could it be in there?

Paul,

It could be a broken wire. Mine stopped working, but when i lifted the tailgate it worked in the 'middle third' of opening, stopped fully open, stopped fully closed!!!

Looks like i might have to do a jury rig to get it going again.

Try this

http://www.v8volvo.se/mekartips/volv...c90%202005.pdf

Its a 2005 flavour (and from a quick look the wiper fuse is No 19 not No12 -perhaps thats me looking at a XC90 or something)
