Smile Scratched black plastic bumpers

Hello again, got scratches on your black plastic bumpers? They can be removed if they're not to deep, using 0000 grade wire wool obtainable from woodworking suppliers. Use something like "back to black" or other silicon product as a lubricant keeping the wool wet and rub over in the direction of the scrape. Finish off by buffing the area again with your favourite black restorer. This will get rid of most light scratches. Happy buffing. George.

I've repaired fairly deep gouges in mine by melting black plastic 35mm film 'pots' into the damage with a soldering iron. Try it at your own risk of course and don't let the plastic bubble and burn, just melt with a low wattage iron.

After melting in the repair it trims smooth with a craft knife.

Of course 35mm film pots will become rare now everyone's gone digital.

The lids from Lynx anti perspirant/deodorant are the same stuff, it's ABS isn't it? Plenty of products use this - great idea to use a hot iron to repair scratches.

Or you can just leave the scratches there as battle damage.

Even better, put a photo of a wrecked car (non Volvo of course) with the words:
"The other car looked like this!"
