Smile Hunting idle

My 2000 P2 V70 T5 has recently been hunting on idle. Not as bad when warmed up but still noticable.
I was going to remove and clean ETM next weekend. Could this be the cause of my problems ???

Thanks

Maybe, cleaning is a good place to start.

Removed and cleaned ETM toda. There was a fair bit of crap in it. As advised, managed to remove it from topside by feel then good clean and back on with new gasket.
Disconnected battery in advance but didn't end up unpluging ETM.

Car was left to idle for about 15 mins after clean. The revs didn't budge and sat firmly and 800 rpm.

From start to finish to about 90 minutes in the rain. (Lesson to myself for putting it off).

Fingers crossed that it's cured fault.

Thanks
