Electric window switches on phase 2 are on the doors, phase 1 near gear stick. Also the black trim along the side of the doors, if it goes all the way to the wheel arch its p1. If you see on my signature pic, right wheel, the trim stops before it, showing its p2. But then there is a p1.5 that has a mix of parts from 1 and 2 however the trim is the key. Lastly, phase 2 registered from July 2000 iirc

If you could post some pics of the outside and interior dash that would help in determining if P1, 1.5 or 2.

Also the side lights are smaller on P1 than P2's

My browser isnt showing the pic you posted, will check at home unless someone comes along to help :-)

If the main electric window switches are near the gearstick (with just a single one on the driver's door like the other doors (or at least front door) then it is a Phase 1.

On Phase 2 the electric window and mirror pack all moved onto the driver's door, and as far as I know, whatever other bits were left over, the Phase 1.5 still had the re-worked interior whereby the switches moved.

Unless others know differently, I would say that the window switch location gives you a definitive answer...

As Haizum has said, other clues are the side-markers (smaller on P1) and, unless you have a T4 or someone has upgraded them, the headlights should be singles on a P1 with patterned glass, but double with clear glass on a P2.

Hope that helps a bit

Didn't the later P1's come with double headlights (before changing to P2)?

Does it say on the log book the year it was registered (and month)

And is it a V40 1.8 Manual?

yeah its got pattern plastic head light covers. and window switches and wing mirror switches by the gear stick, with one drivers door window switch on the door itself. So must be a phase 1. thanks guys.
