V40 Headlamp Switch
This relates to the headlamp switch on V40 1.9D Sport with Xenon bulbs, but likely to help with other models.
Picked this car up last week and had no headlamps, main or dipped in that switch position, but DLR ok when off. First thought was the CEM but found that this was the headlamp switch unit at fault and when dismantled the very tiny PCB mounted ‘pin’ switch, operated by the cam on the rotating knob, was broken. Volvo price £88 including the vent ducting assembly. Maplin sell very small Tactile PCB mounted switches (KR88V) and although requires delicate fitting, a low wattage soldering iron, removal of two of the legs from the new switch and drill a new hole, I was able to replace the broken switch and repair the light…£1.19.
