Another new sensor was used to test and reading was still too high, the dpf manufacturer are claiming now that I must have a egr valve stuck open and it has filled the dpf in 2 days!
The Volvo specialist are saying there is no fault showing for erg. I'm not sure what will happen now |

remove plastic cover from under egr valve when running you can press the arm in slightly and it shuld pulse against your fingers
|

other way is to remove egr and check it also clean out 100%.is it drawing air somwhere to fill up in 2days is quick

Clan, it was an aftermarket filter from cats2u with a 2 year warranty
Im wondering if egr is a contributer because i get juddering in some gears on acceleration which corrects after i back off? I still have the old dpf so that can be tested by the volvo specialist, is it easy to remove egr? on vadis it says lower engine 8cm?? Cheers |

If your old Particle filter was less than 75000 miles old it should still be servicable . You dont have to lower the engine to get the EGR valve off ( assuming it is the 2.0 D engine ) but there is a 5 mm alen bolt on the underside which is best accesed with a very LONG socket extension from underneath . you will get an EGR Fault code if it is sticking and not in the right position at all times , unless the valve head has broken off ! which seems to happen a lot in the Citröen versions of this engine but rarely on the volvo ones . ( volvo modified this valve around 2006-7 whilst Citröen carry on regardless having problems with it !)

The old filter is 85k or there abouts. I did not realise an aftermarket dpf could cause issues, i suppose i was lead by the 2 year warranty and the belief (due to the particulate restriction fault code) that it would be ok I cant afford a volvo dpf, i suppose you could say i shouldnt have bought a volvo then but i wasnt aware of these issues before hand. There is no EGR fault code, infact there is now no check engine message either, just the ash accumulation and 3 different sensors have read high pressure |
