As I`ve been doing more mods to the engine this has been getting worse. I`ve search this forum and found this :-
http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=61671 Dis-connecting the ICV is not sorting the problem as it just puts the lambda light on. The engine revs hold/increase when changing gear because the ICV lets air into the inlet manifold, so to stop this problem less air needs to be going through the ICV. I blanked off the pipe that goes to the ICV with a piece of sheet steel. A 3m/m hole was drilled in the blank, when refitted the car wouldn`t start so the hole in the blank was opened up to 7.5m/m and this sorted the problem. ![]() ![]() As my 850 has a custom RIP kit it was easier to just weld the blank on the steel pipe. To do this on a standard 850 just put a piece of nylon up the tube with a hole in it but put a jubilee clip on the pipe where the nylon is to stop it from being sucked into the engine !!!
