C70: saggy seat

2001 C70 convertible.

My driver's seat is a bit saggy. It has covered 122,000 miles and although I'm only the third owner, owner number 2 was a bit of a bloater.

The leather is fine, as are all the other seats. The back is also fine, it is just the base.

Anyone know what is involved in repairing this seat? I assume it has springs of some sort....?

i was thinking about this the other day.

my seats are in really good nick as far as the leather goes (no cracks) but maybe the drivers will need attention sooner or later.

I am worried about the electrics, including the heated seats etc.

Having pulled apart the seat in my 940 some years ago, and messed with my old 850 before I scrapped it-
First remove the seat from the car and be sure to take appropriate precautions for airbags, belt tensioners etc. The fabric was held in place by a mix of metal rods running through the seams of the fabric and little metal loops like staples holding it to the seat frame. I cut through the staples with some strong side cutters and then carefully peeled back the fabric. On the V70 the seat heating pads are stuck to the foam of the eats but can be peeled off with patience. When I replaced the covers I used small cable ties where the staples had been.
The manuals usually say upholstery is a specialist thing and take it to the dealers, frankly I suspect there's no one at the dealers who would be an expert either so it's worth trying yourself especially if the seat has got to a point where it's no good anyway. Work slowly and methodically and resist the temptation to just give anything a big tug unless you're absolutely sure that is the only way to get it off.
