Default Trailers - buy or build?

Hi all,

I thought I would ask on here as im sure a few of you guys might have trailers for various things, I am in need of a trailer and im not sure if its easier to simply buy one and modify it or build one from scratch.

I will be transporting my drag kart around on it, usually what happens is an extra board gets attached to the top of a small box trailer and the kart is then bolted to that, I have also seen a motorbike trailer modified to take a kart.

I am just wondering if its worth building a custom trailer or if its worth just buying a trailer and modifying it?

Anyone had any experiance on building one on here?

The Wife™ is a mechanical engineer -- I am sure if I asked her she would waffle on about tolerances and materials and then say you should just buy one. Should be cheap enough second hand I would've thought and if you're handy with welding then you could probably modify the body once you have a suitable chassis.

Thanks mate, yeah I had a look around and it seems that there is a ready supply of chassis used for caravans - probably due to top gear - as an option, I will look into it, need to get a tow bar fitted first lol but I have found one, just need to get it fitted.
