Squeaking brakes - running out of ideas!
Hi all,
We have a 2003 D5 and has been a great support workhorse for the kids activties, pan european travel etc. We have an issue of squeaking brakes at low speed. Ive had new rear discs and pads, the fronts cleaned and skimmed, calipers all checked, but still it remains. Has anyone had a similar issue? Im just bored of it!!! Thanks, Swed. |

Hi Swed,
does the squeak go away if you apply the parking brake slightly or if you gently brake? Joe |

Hi Joe,
Thanks foe the reply. It seems only when going slowly, and a gentle push. ive not tried the park brake yet. Does this give an idea? Thanks, S. |

The rear handbrake shoes must be fitted correctly and preferably with new springs, if the springs are distorted or not fitted correctly they can cause squeaks at low speeds until you "re-seat" them by applying the parking brake, but next time you use the parking brake the squeak will return.

Thanks Gents,
Not sure if pads and discs are Volvo, the pads are 100% as I can see. I will let my garage know it maybe the footbrake and go from there! Thanks again, S. |
