Default Rear door exterior trim question...

Hi guys

Wifey scraped the car on a post on the rear passenger door of our 04 T6 - did a little scuffing on the plastic trim 'bars' (front and back ) but most the damage is localised to a 2 by 4 inch scrape, taking off a lot of layers of paint, on the bottom section of the door. I got a quote and they included replacing the front and back plastic trim ( I probably won't bother with those though ) (£364!) but there is no mention in the quote of the protective 'sticker/film' that is situated on the rear/lower quarter of the door and follows the contour of the rear wheel arch. I can't tell whether or not it is colour coded or simply clear, but I can't find any reference to it online - is it an aftermarket stone chip protection? Anyone else got this sticker/film on their rear doors?

If I decided to replace them at a later date, are the exterior trim pieces easy to remove and replace on the doors?

Cheers

Mike

Yes they are clear, dealer I am sure should be able to supply, don't think that it is possible to remove and use again

We have these on ours - exactly the same problem as you; SWMBO dented the offside rear door and I was quoted about £450 to replace the plastic trim on both doors, respray the rear door and replace the protective sticker - one of these stickers was quoted at £7.30. The black plastic moulding was £60.

The bodyshop suggested that they could not reuse the plastic mouldings hence charging to replace. They did offer to mask them and spray around instead but didn't advise it as the coverage may not be as good.

I replaced the clear anti chip panel on the nearside of my xc, got mine from the dealer, but he couldnt tell how to remove the old one, I carefully peeled it back on itself , straight forward and didnt bring any paint off with it
