Limp home mode when towing Caravan
Hi there, first post.
After searching this website and a few others i wonderd if someone could help us with the above ?? Our 03 XC90 with 86k on the clock goes into limp home mode when we are towing our Caravan but it hasn't done it when we aren't towing. Generally when we pull off or on long ascents. We've had the Fuel filter changed, the EGR valve cleaned (Wasn't really dirty) and the Turbo pipes checked for softening. All ok. The codes the garage are getting are as follows, 4405 EGR control flow to low. 6805 Boost pressure faulty/low. Any further help will be much appreciated, as we are of to Scotland in 2 weeks and the car is still in the garage. Michelle. |

Look at the engine mounts & you will see a vacuum pipe going to them. There is an insert thats pushed into them & the vac pipe pushes onto them. One of mine were cracked. See picture. DSCF5960.JPG This vac pipe is linked to a load of other pipes. One of them controls the turbo boost. If there is a small leak in one of these pipes it makes the vacuum in these pipes to low for it to control the turbo boost. & it will go into limp home mode. The first symptoms of a problem i had weeks before it started going into limp home mode was that when i come of the accelerator it would still keep accelerating for a split second that was very unnerving when coming to a junction. I now put this down to the turbo still boosting because there was a lack of vacuum to stop it from doing this. It looks like the ecu was happy with it doing this because every thing was with in tolerances but as the leak got worse it started playing up.
